60s theme birthday party

Planning a 60s themed party is so much fun.

This is your chance to go wild with bright colours and lots of plastic.

Think Peace signs, love bugs and bellbottoms.

Dont forget the funky glasses!

How about an Austin Powers theme? Costume hire places rent out some lovely blue velvet suits for less than R200.

Felicity Shagwell is a great excuse for the ladies wanting to wear shiny sequinned dresses or really short shorts with chunky boots.

Cute little mirror balls can be given as favours or even some costume jewellery.

If you bring a pair of Austin Powers teeth or crazy glasses - beware, they love making the rounds with all the guests posing for zany photos.

Don't say we did warn you that your night will turn out to be filled with lots of laughs and fun photos that will have you laughing for years!

Winter Wedding

Don't let the cold weather put you off when you plan your wedding.

Clever use of candles will create a warm atmosphere (and having a fireplace always helps) and we added some feather boas and mirror vases, all around a very pleasing effect.

The bride looked absolutely radiant and she sparkled.

A fluffy bolero jacket kept her warm in between photo takes outside and made for some lovely photos.

The guest were treated to Sherry and Liqueur while they waited for the starters to be served.

The meal was a traditional Afrikaans feast including chicken wrapped in bacon, creamy potatoes and a delicious bean salad.

Dessert was a homemead malva pudding with custard.

Vintage Party

All the stars were there - Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean to name a few.

The party was a huge success.

Salsa Restaurant in Illovo is a great venue to host parties for up to 90 guests and their food is to die for.

A Jazz band was hired for the evening and had all the guests dancing up a storm to their renditions of all the popular songs.

If you would like to book them - give us a call and we can refer you to them.

A party's atmoshphere can be greatly enhanced when the guests dress up according to the theme.

To add some glamour to that Vintage Party - dont be afraid to use feather boas and a few ostrich feathers - be careful of going overboard tho.

Glitter is highly under-rated as a kiddies tool - in strategic places, it will help add to the magic of the evening.

Purple Butterfly is slowly starting to take shape.

Lots to do to get us up and running, but so far we are working on 2 projects - small, but great starts.

Project 1:
Corporate product launch - black and white theme.
We have some stunning decor, gorgeous seating ideas, elegant draping and delectable snacks.

Project 2:
21st Birthday - Vintage theme
Think Glamour from the Marilyn monroe era.
Diamantes, feather boas and elegant surroundings.
Set in a stunning Illovo venue, this party will not be complete without the stars of the era- Marilyn Monroe, James Dean etc will be the table themes.

Our 1st Post!

Welcome to Purple Butterfly!

Angie & I are super excited about getting our "baby" up and running.

To give you a little bit of history about us:

Angie & I met online through our personal Blog and since then have been the closest of friends.

Angie's husband calls us 2 Peas in a Pod - because we really are!

The idea for Purple Butterfly formed over lunch 1 day & has been a dream… up until now.



After Angie’s recent marriage to Grant & arranging a stunning wedding—we decided that this is our passion… & Purple Butterfly was born.


Angie has always been passionate about weddings & received her Diploma in Sept '09. It also helps that she is Super Organised.


I have always been fascinated by the Event & Party planning process & it seemed natural for us to put our creative energy to good use.

Our dream is to make other people's events special and magical.

We will help with everything from flowers to cakes, dress ideas to stationery, ANYTHING!

You name it, we do it! And if it’s simply just setting up on your special day and making sure the décor is 100% correct, we do that too!
